In 1976, Bill Filson started Filson Metal Products in a ranch shop near Helena, Montana.
Projects in the eighties included specialty trailers, wood burning stoves and hydraulic commercial solid waste compactors.
It was in 2006 that the owner of a Bozeman, Montana caramel/confectionery store was looking to upgrade her very old caramel cutter as well as ‘clone’ it for a second working machine as her production ramped up.
Her old machine was worn and broken down in several places. Anticipating that her machine would die and jeopardize her daily production of caramels, she was referred to Bill Filson of Bridger Metal for construction of custom replacement parts.
Seeing beyond just those repair needs, Bill’s engineering and troubleshooting background lead him design and build one of the first bullet proof, low cost, American-made caramel cutting machines. The AC1000 fills a void for many small to midsize shops because for decades no one had been building a machine with all the upgraded features in demand.
In the small and highly connected world of caramel manufactures in the US, word quickly spread about this gem of a machine available from Bridger Metal. Now with 100s of machines in production across the US, the AC1000 is sought out by businesses looking to replace aged equipment or upgrade their production efficiency. The AC1000 is used in daily production of standard and custom sized caramel, nougat, crispy rice treats, fudge and molded soap.
Bridger Metal’s accomplishments over the past 20 years have moved into increasingly complex fields, including industrial processing and manufacturing machinery, from the simpler semi-automated to the complex PLC driven machines or complete systems.
